Brazil seeks dialogue with US over steel & aluminum tariffs instead of immediate retaliation

Brazil’s Finance Minister announced that the country will not immediately retaliate against the US tariffs on steel and aluminum imports but will instead seek discussions. The US has increased tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports, prompting swift retaliation from Canada and Europe.
In response, Brazil expressed regret over the US decision despite their long history of cooperation. As one of the largest suppliers of US steel, Brazil plans to evaluate all possible actions, including filing a complaint with the World Trade Organization.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva instructed his economic team to remain calm and engage in dialogue with the US government. A meeting between Brazilian and US officials further discuss the tariffs, with Brazil emphasizing the mutually beneficial trade relationship between the two nations.
